When do you visit this site to view and post?
by stuckinarut2 inhey all,.
i'm curious about the times and places we all come and check in on this great forum.. is it after a long day at work while having a drink, or during the work day on your mobile tablets, or quickly in-between family evenings etc...?.
do most "hide" their tracks when using the family computer, perhaps using "private browsing"?.

Awake at last
After dinner at night. The best time though for me is early hours of the morning because that is when the American and UK posters are awake and posting, so most activity then. It is 8.20pm in NSW Australia at the moment and not much happening. -

What backlash could you expect by telling everyone you 'hate the Caleb cartoons'?
by Esse quam videri inwhat kind of response could you expect if you let everyone in your congregation know that.
"... i hate those stupid caleb cartoons.
i hate his crazy mother.

I think from what I am reading here and from past experiences, they would try to correct your thinking on just about anything GB approved......even a family of cartoon characters.
You would probably be shown more tolerance if you said you didn't like a Bible character.

?i married a jw when i was an interested person and studying with the jw's ( not the way they wanted) but i told my wife before marrying her that " most probably " i would never have been a jw.she accepted me as i was and married me.

Awake at last
I was born in in 1962 and believed it verbatim, after all my father said it was true and he had checked out other religions so it must be. I always doubted that I would survive Armageddon even though I was not really a bad person, just spiritually weak and did not have a pioneering spirit or even just a door to door spirit.
As I grew up, I still believed in Armageddon but did not think about whether other things were right or wrong, I just did what I had always done. I noticed problems such as lack of love in the cong and I always seemed to be on the outside looking in. In 1995, I visited Brooklyn Bethel. Something there just did not sit right with me although I had always wanted to go there. I did not regret spending a whole day of my time in the US at Bethel but the slacking off began after that.
My father, I think may have been having some doubts also. I can't ask him as he is deceased, but before he passed away, according to mum, he stopped reading the society's publications and read only the Bible and did only meeting prep from the WT, etc. He has been gone over 16 years now and I do know for sure that if he was still alive, he would be very interested in what I have been researching on this site and others. He would be very open to TTATT. In fact if he was resurrected like the people on the TV series, he would be absolutely shocked to know he has been dead 16 years.
i have learnt so much in the past 6 months. I had not been to a meeting since the memorial of 2013 but only began looking into it 6 months ago. A few things bothered me such as shunning D/F young ones, JW's only ones to survive Armageddon, uncaring attitudes of elders, Bethel bros, etc. The main thing that stopped me was the uncaring attitude towards the elderly, in particular my mother. Then I found out it was a widespread problem. Don't even start me on child abuse!
Sorry my rant is so long. I have, like so many others, put many years into the org, not so much as a pioneer but just in my everyday life, always thinking before I bought clothes, saving money for conventions, being separate from others at school and work. Now my life is much less of a burden. The Bible says that my yoke is kindly and my load is light. That was not the case in the JW's. Now I can buy more fashionable clothes, get a piercing if I want to. I still subconsciously think about what I should do then remind myself that I am free now.

Be cautious about the excessive use of the most-favored medicine called paracetamol, say studies!
by abiather instudies have found an increased risk of mortality, up to 63 percent, among long-term paracetamol users, compared to those who had not been prescribed the drug during the study period (http://www.interaksyon.com/article/106187/long-term-paracetamol-use-poses-risk-says-study).

I suffered from migraines from the time I was 8. About 5 years ago someone told me about Magnesium tablets. You take them each day, not just when you have a migraine or feel one coming on. I still get them now and then but not as much or anything like as severe. It has changed my life, a bit like leaving the JW's. It's worth a try anyway.

Adverts
by New day injust noticed that one of the ads that keeps popping up on my page (but only when i am on this site) is for a company called ministry ideas which sells all sorts of folders etc.
for use in the ministry by witnesses.
i have looked up this site at times and am appalled at the crass commercialism of it, but ironic that it appears when browsing on this site!

I've seen the ads for ministry ideas too and agree with you about the commercialism of it. Someone is doing OK off the gullible witnesses who buy their junk. -

Wife just found out I won't be attending the Memorial this year!
by FadeToBlack inmy wife is staying with 'friends' out of town recovering from surgery on her foot.
i called to see how she was healing up and mentioned that i hope she gets back on her feet before i leave for the states to visit family (all non-witness) in april.
i begged her to postpone this surgery until i got back, but she did not forsee any problems.we will see.. anyway, it dawned on her that i won't be here to attend the memorial and she said: you are probably happy about that.

Awake at last
That is OK to say, "Wait on Jehovah", in child abuse cases, but the children in this organisation cannot wait on Jehovah for even one more day, that is how serious this is. TODAY is the day to take decisive action on this matter. TODAY is the day to walk out and take your children with you or just walk out yourself. Vote with your feet, your brains and most importantly your money. Get out of her my people if you do not want to share in her sins (crimes). -

by NoMoreHustle ini have not posted in a bit.... life basically as a fader sucks!!

Free to leave at any time...it doesn't sound like it to me!
Would she rather have you unhappy and a slave to a religion you no longer want or happy? I'd rather be married to a happy person, personally. Many couples can live happily together when one is in and the other out. She should know of examples of that.

According to Oct.1st 2012 WT Directions- Past Child Molesters CAN Be Appointed Elders
by flipper inconsidering the fact that the wt society refuses to release in courts any of it's written directions to elders through confidential letters to elder bodies- i thought i'd do the courts and wt society a "favor " by posting excerpts from this oct 1st.
2012 letter from the wt society to all bodies of elders.
these instructions are very exposing of the negligence of wt authorities in how they view the seriousness of felony child abuse.

Awake at last
It is not the reason I left but one of the reasons I would never go back and a very important one. A former child molester in the cong is bad enough, but to be in an appointed position is inexcusable, no ifs or buts about it. There is no holy spirit in an organisation that even considers a former child molester as suitable to be a part of the cong in any capacity. This topic alone, forget everything else on this forum and I mean everything, should wake up every elder who sees these letters.
Thank you Mr Flipper for bringing this to our attention once again. It can never be talked about too much. Things cannot be fixed in the org from the top down, so we must attempt to fix from the bottom up if that makes sense.

My grandmother was interested in the witnesses or bible students as they were known in the 1920's. She was never baptised but left disgruntled over something around the late 20's. My mother never fully understood why, she was only a child then. Maybe all this information may be the key as to what happened and why my grandmother left. I will read it with interest when I get some time.
